Voodoo Walking Tour
with Wanderful Saint Louis

Thursday, 10 March, 2-3:30pm

French Quarter

Shrouded in mystery and secrecy – and often misrepresented by popular culture and Hollywood depictions – Voodoo has long held reign in New Orleans legends, folklore, and history. Spirituality has been hidden among the enslaved people of the 1700s, popularized and commercialized by the famous Voodoo Queen Marie Laveau in the nineteenth century, and still functions as an alternative religion in the modern-day city. But how do you separate the facts from so much fiction, rumors, and superstitions? Join Free Tours by Foot on our New Orleans Voodoo Tour as we seek to illuminate one of New Orleans’ most unique subcultures.

From its roots in West Africa to the modern-day temples inside the French Quarter, we will explore the history, culture, and beliefs of both historic and current practitioners. Along the way, our guides will explain the truth behind the more popular superstitions and the meaning of some of the stranger rituals. The tour ends with a stop inside a Voodoo temple and a chance to pick up some New Orleans “gris-gris” to take home!

The group will grab dinner together after the tour.

Cost: $15
To pay, send your fee via PayPal to Teresa at paypal.me/sparkleadventurestw.

Women's History Walking Tour of the French Quarter
with Pam Morisse and guide Suzanne Stone

Saturday, 12 March, 6:45-8:45pm

French Quarter

New Orleans has been a hotbed of female initiative and entrepreneurship since its founding in 1718. This tour takes you through The French Quarter to see the buildings and hear the stories of intrepid women who have helped build, shape, preserve, and continue to influence. You’ll learn about the societal conditions and unique French civil laws that allowed women autonomy not found in other parts of the country during the 18th and 19th centuries.

You will walk in the footsteps of and be inspired by New Orleans women from across the centuries, including the indentured servants and prostitutes plucked off the streets of Paris and shipped to the colony under protest; the Ursuline Nuns; free women of color such as Marie Laveau and Henriette DeLille; and the amazing Baroness Pontalba.

Cost: $15

Wanderfest Bar Crawl
with Seeker

Saturday, 12 March, 8-11pm

French Quarter

We’ll start our stepping near the French Quarter and keep the good times rolling by strolling to a few of our favorite bars. The more places we hit, the more lit it’s gonna get. But you’ll be going at your own pace–so check the Seeker app for the deets. Did we mention the drinks are on us? We’ll buy you a drink at each of our stops when you check in on Seeker. Not sure how? We’ll be there to help.

Tips for the evening:

  • Everything’s pretty close together, but we’re walking—and those cobblestone streets are no joke—so comfortable shoes are recommended

  • If you’re running late, take a peek at our Instagram page to see where we’re at: @joinseeker

  • Hydration is your friend

  • If someone bets you they can “guess where you got dem shoes” just say “I got ‘em on my feet” (we’ll tell you the whole story at the bar)

  • Didn’t finish your drink? Just ask the bartender for a go cup because walking with drinks is no problem in the Vieux Carré
